Rachel and her team (Niki, Kim and Maria) are now recruiting young people (aged 16-19) from the Merthyr area to their Wellcome Trust funded project (see Jan 28 and Nov 02 2007 blogs). This exciting piece of work is going to last 12 months and the young people involved will get to choose how they want to explore what inherited illness means to them, their families and their community. Opportunities to use multi-media equipment (including photography, film and music) are available and each participant will get a digital camera plus some payment for their time.

If you live or have contacts in Merthyr we’d be delighted if you would distribute the flyer – the broader the better! No knowledge of genetics or science is needed and the team is keen to involve young people both in and outside of education and training. For those interested there is an informal information day taking place on April 4 (10-3pm) at the Castle Hotel (see flyer).
