Did you know that the University of Glamorgan has a wholly Fairtrade catering outlet on campus?
Earlier this week, members of the University Fairtrade Group carried out an audit inspection of campus services. Rob Matthews, Director of Campus Services, was pleased to show them around the University’s wholly Fairtrade outlet.
Mr Matthews said ‘This has been a great success. Staff and Students have responded very positively to the Fairtrade products on sale. We are committed to this concept and are considering whether the outlet should be moved to a location on campus which will experience a heavier footfall. That way we can build on our success and bring Fairtrade to the attention of even more people.’
Paula Webb, Catering Manager added ‘This young, vibrant atmosphere is an ideal place for students to ‘show off’ their label. Where better to wear trendy clothes made out of Fairtrade cotton and show them to your friends?’
Vaughan Rees, Chair of the University Fairtrade Group said ‘The University works throughout the year to promote Fairtrade goods and to raise awareness about Fairtrade issues. This initiative by Campus Services is an exciting and innovative contribution to our work’.
Would you would like to check out the experience for yourself before the end of FairTrade fortnight? The wholly Fairtrade outlet is currently located in J block (the Johnstown building).
